Hate to be Debbie Downer on a saturday morning but this is setting up to be another let down game. Time and time again under the AV regime we see this team usually play down to their opponent rather than obliterating them, hope tonight proves to be a different story.
Is Nash playing tonight? |

Canucks play well in front of Schneider for the most part, when they have let downs he's there more than not to make important saves. I see a win by at least three goals.

Anything less than a blowout is unacceptable.
CBJ's season is over. Worst team in the NHL by far... Worst team on the road... I don't understand why MAG would be benched in favor of Rome for a game like this... This should be our pond hockey special of the year. |

We rarely blow out teams unless we have some bone to pick with them (TO) so I don't see this being lopsided. I'm banking on a solid, professional win. The 3-0 sounds about right. |

I don't know what to expect. If Bieksa plays the way he has the last couple of games... it doesnt matter how well Schneider plays. |

Ian Esplen: Canucks/Blue Jackets Game Day
Canucks/Blue Jackets Game Day - IanEsplen
Thanks Ian, good work.
This is pretty similar to the blog prior to the Montreal game last Saturday. Taking on a team low in the standings which should translate to a morale boosting victory for the Canucks. Let's hope it doesn't end up the with the same result as last week. |

I just don't see the Canucks getting out of their funk, they really have nothing to play for and with "Curly" playing on the Sedin line the drought will continue. It's time to make use of our 4 emergency call ups and sit Raymond, the Sedins and Edler and put in Schroeder, Reinprecht, Jansen and Connaughton and see if they can spark the team. I also think Schneider's due for a really bad game and I think this may be the one, which scares me a LOT. |

This is why we accepted a dinner invitation instead of hunking down for HNIC. That and that Maclean & Cherry are complete tools. |

You can't call up Jansen, he's in the OHL. When his season is done he can play some games for the wolves, but if he plays for the Canucks he burns a year of his entry level contract (maybe it's 10 games, not sure). Reinprecht would have to clear re-entry waivers. If he got claimed he couldn't play for that team in the playoffs, but they would only need to pay half his remaining salary. |

Jensen is in the OHL and can't be called up, and Reinprecht is subject to waivers, though as a UFA next year, Canucks wouldn't be on the hook for any salary (I think). I'm all for calling up Schroeder—he's had a pretty solid second half of the season—but there's no spot for him unless AV actually sits Raymond. |

Plus that whole salary cap thing still applies. Not sure where we are at with that, but calling up a bunch of guys in order to sit the regulars probably isn't in the cards. |

Yeah, I've got to run a St . Patrick's Day kegger for work, so I won't be able to watch either. If we lose, that will definitely have been for the best. If we win? Well, we beat the worst team in the league. Good for us. |

The Sky is falling!!
We have 2 games in hand on the Blues.
When other teams had games in hand on us we counted them as wins, so lets do the same.
That puts us 2 points away from the PT again.
4 wins in a row and everyone will forget about the current "slump".
In the 80's this was a streak |

You could always send Kassian, Tanev, Weise and MAG down. Pretty sure MAG needs to play 10 games for us or he becomes UFA instead of RFA, and with Ballard on LTI it looks like we have about $600k to spare.
Agreed though, if players get called up it will likely be one at a time to fill a specific need. There are enough bodies up already to sit a starter for a game. |

Yeah it's not exactly a win-win is it.
Anyway you boys enjoy the day. I'm off to the Blarney for the obligatory St Pat's debauchery. If I actually end up catching the game, it'll be with one eye open and beer goggles firmly attached. |
